Media (and campaign communications) malpractice

This article on the CBS website is another bit of proof that reporters either don’t get it or they’re part of an obfuscation team. Here’s the title to the article: The bubble wars: Obama and Romney battle over who is “out of touch” It goes downhill after that: One way to think about the 2012 presidential campaign is as a battle between two houses: Barack Obama’s White House and Mitt Romney’s San Diego house. The Romney campaign would like to make Obama a prisoner to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave., turning every perk and privilege of the presidency into a sign that he is far removed from the people he is supposed to lead, especially anyone struggling in this economy. “Years of flying around on Air Force One, surrounded by an adoring staff of true … Read entire article »

Obama in DEEP trouble

Jay Cost is excellent at deciphering polls. His latest column deciphering yesterday’s ABC/Washington Post poll spells major trouble for President Obama. Here’s part of what he wrote: Yesterday, a new ABC News/Washington Post poll seemed to confirm the meme that Barack Obama is pummeling Mitt Romney among women, helping the former open up a 7-point lead in the general election horse race. What to make of this? Well, for starters, the poll has an inexplicably large Democratic advantage; the party breakdown in the poll is 34 percent Democratic, 23 percent Republican, and 34 percent independent. As a point of historical comparison, the party spread in four of the last five elections since 2002 has basically been an even split between the two sides. In 2008, a “perfect storm” of bad news for the … Read entire article »

Killing businesses the old-fashioned way?

In this video, Bernie Marcus explains why this administration’s regulatory policies are killing job creation and wealth development: // // ]]> The sad thing is that Bernie Marcus, Arthur Blank and their partners wouldn’t have created the jobs they did if today’s regulatory environment had been in place in 1978: This administration’s love of stifling financial regulations would’ve stopped Home Depot before it started. Whether you’re talking Dodd-Frank, which Marcus calls the Bonnie and Clyde Act, or whether the subject is Obamacare, the EPA’s industry-killing regulations or the NLRB’s dictatorial act, the reality is that this administration loves killing opportunity, jobs and prosperity through regulations. This says everything about today’s regulatory burden: MARCUS: We talk about job creation. We’ve got more job-killer rules than there is ever before. It’s never happened like this before and … Read entire article »

For Newt after Santorum goes stark raving, March ‘improving economy’, Mad(ness)

The Whippersnapper snapped when he accepted the Democratic Party media fiction while The Legend’s campaign is as much against the media as it is for the GOP presidential nomination Thankfully, former Speaker Newt Gingrich is every bit a social conservative as the former senator from Pennsylvania, and so would have that historical advantage that, along with the “It’s the economy, stupid” rule, regularly results in the election of Republican presidents and congressional majorities. So how did the young whippersnapper who previously won our Super Tuesday endorsement by avoiding anti-Bain venture capitalism-pile-ons while also contrasting his unblemished record against individual health care mandates as opposed to Mitt Romney’s Massachusetts RomneyCare  and 2009 advocacy for the individual mandates in ObamaCare? Unprompted, he essentially took the economy off the table for the fall election against President Barack Obama based upon seasonally adjusted … Read entire article »

Red meat ‘economy’ portion of ‘improving economy’ dooms Obama

Red meat that both Romney and the base can eat on the way to the crucial selection of who will wield federal executive power  Would you re-visit a barber, in a town with other barbers available, that you had initially hired for a trim around the edges but who instead shaved your head, merely because your pate was technically “improving” due to ongoing natural growth three weeks later? I didn’t think so, and you know, Rome began “improving” immediately after the last flame turned to embers and Nero fiddled his final chord. Despite the near flawless application of James Carville’s, It’s-the-economy, stupid-Rule to every presidential election outcome since at least 1976, even many bona fide conservatives in the NY-DC Media are buying into the inevitability of the re-election of an incumbent chief executive who … Read entire article »

Inflation Figures… More Washington Lies

Core inflation, they tell us, is not a problem. These are the same people who tell us our economy is on the rebound and the worst is over. Mark Twain is reported to have said, “There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics.” However the the worst lies of all are Washington statistics, with an agenda behind each numeric rounding and each slice of the statistical pie. Being an old computer geek who has worked with raw data for years, I’ve seen it sliced, diced, squeezed and twisted to prove just about any point the powers that be wish to make. The core inflation proponents claim that we have no real inflation can be seen as bogus during any visit to the gas station, grocery or department store. … Read entire article »

Why 2012 Is Even More Important Than You Think 2

- Neither a Healthy Populace, Nor a Healthy Economy - While we can’t help but recognize that the United States is struggling financially in both public and private sectors, it’s time to point out that Europe is struggling even more. The fact that a European-style economy appears to be President Barack Obama’s model for the fundamentally changed United States is seldom mentioned. Like the act of socializing medicine in Europe, the goal was not about medicine; it was about socialism. In the United States, Obamacare is not the end; it is a means to an end. The purpose of Obamacare is to squeeze out private insurers and then private medical providers. In the end, the quality of medical care must decrease as surely as the costs must increase when efficient competition ends … Read entire article »

The Truth Shall Set You Free!

Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” John 8:32 (NIV) In our present day society, the politically correct keepers of proper thought are on constant guard lest the truth get out and expose the lies of the ruling class. We saw the impact of this at the last Republican debate where so many participants, even good conservatives, were scandalized that Newt Gingrich had the audacity to tell the world that the Palestinians were an “invented” people group. It was a people group invented to lay claim to land possessed by a legitimate people group, the Israelis. Many said, in essence, this is right, but we shouldn’t talk about it because it will make the people perpetuating the lie, and their fellow travelers, angry. Apparently some would … Read entire article »

Was this week the turning point?

When GOP activists look back on the last partial week of November, will they see this as the week when the dynamics of the GOP presidential race? I’m betting they will. Perhaps the biggest event of the week was Mitt’s disastrous interview with FNC’s Bret Baier, seen in this video: and this video: In that interview, Mitt was irritated, frustrated and unable to suppress his disgust with Bret Baier’s questions. Throughout the debates, pundits have said that Mitt looked presidential on stage right before noting that nobody laid a glove on Mitt. The lone exception was when Rick Perry accused him of hiring an illegal immigrant to do his lawn. That night, it was apparent that Mitt didn’t have thick skin, that his temper was his achilles heal. When Bret Baier started asking tough, fair … Read entire article »

Newt: the reliable growth stock?

With the drumbeat of positive Gingrich articles continuing, even increasing, it wasn’t difficult to Image via Wikipedia predict that Newt’s stock would rise. This article verifies Newt’s rise: GOP presidential candidate and former U.S. House Speaker Newt Gingrich’s stock is up on the Iowa Electronic Markets, a real money futures market operated by the University of Iowa’s Tippie College of Business. Gingrich has seen a spike in the price of his stock, which started out near $0 but is now nearing $.40. That means traders think Gingrich has a 40 percent chance of finishing in the top two in the Iowa Caucuses. To be accurate, Mitt’s stock is trading at $.75. Still, if Newt’s debate performances continue, which is likely, Newt’s stock will continue its rise. That isn’t just my opinion. Dorothy Rabinowitz thinks Newt’s got … Read entire article »
