The Next Shock to the GOP Establishment: Ted Cruz in Texas

Speaking before the Denton County GOP Thursday night, Ted Cruz promised when he is elected as the Senator to replace Kay Bailey Hutchison “Texas will Lead the way.” Casting his main primary opponent, Lt. Governor David Dewhurst, as an establishment insider, Cruz said that his grass roots campaign would overcome the $2 million per week spent by and for Dewhurst. Cruz said grass roots conservatives were not looking for moderate like Dewhurst. Dewhurst currently leads in the polls as Cruz splits the conservative vote with Craig James, Tom Leppert and several others. The latest numbers show Cruz rising as he gains name recognition. The Founding Fathers Took History Away From the Historians

Because of the events of the past twenty years, the past three especially, the common man and woman, the ordinary Joe, is finally in a position to define American history, which, once upon a time, was reserved for a very few. I think the Founders had this in mind all the time, only don’t ask the faculties at Harvard or Princeton for second opinions. This drama has been going on, progressing as it were, for about 100 years. Let’s call this most recent chapter under Obama, about to come to a head, ”The Empire Strikes Back.” Interpreting history is never an easy thing…unless you first have a unified theory, which, as I have pointed out many times, was provided to me by Moses Sands, who passed into the high country in 2006. Moses believed that … Read entire article »

You Want Our Country Back? Do You Really?

It is no secret that government is wildly out of control. We see every day how government intrudes further and further into our lives. We watch as our grandchildren are indebted by insane government spending. As we approach the November elections, the country is nearing a tipping point. America is not that far away from having more people in the government sector than the private sector. If that happens, we will have lost any claim on the legacy gifted us by the founders. We will have fallen from the their shoulders and under the boot of the state. GovernmentGoneWild lays it out: . It would be fine to take the advice in the video to spread it around. It really captures what the country is up against … Read entire article »

A Comment on Obama’s “I Was Against It Before I Was For it” Flip-Flop on Gay Marriage

A cynical Beltway pundit class, including conservatives, have already joined to announce that Obama’s flip-flop on gay marriage is a non-factor in the election campaign, at least so long as the economy and jobs remain front burner issues. This thinking is mainly based on Romney’s inability to nail Obama as a flip-flopper since he’s bounced around a little himself. Politically this is probably sound, but as I said, it is also cynical. But Romney’s sin of the flip-flop is not necessarily (in fact, I’d bet on) the same caliber as Obama’s, just as Obama’s flip-flop is certainly unlike Bush I’s “read my lips” change of heart. There is a big difference in changing one’s mind and changing one’s moral positions. On the latter point, one would normally have a whole lot more explaining … Read entire article »

Marriage Does Not Belong to the State

All this stuff you hear about marriage being the union between a man and a woman is fine enough…as far as it goes. But why is that the case? What is the basis for this claim we make so casually? It is the word “marriage”  that is at stake here, not the nuts and bolts of a marriage; love, double beds, kids, two pay envelopes, community property, or, in the gay world, even the right to exist as partners in a legal estate identical to that of marriage. You see, that term “marriage”, in hundreds of different languages,  has belonged to the religions and cultures of the world for thousands of years before there was ever such a thing as a government. The tribes of Israel had marriage before Saul was anointed king, … Read entire article »

CNBC’s Santelli Unloads on Obama: “Send a Message About Three Weeks Before Thanksgiving”

You know Rick Santelli. Many people credit him with kicking off the tea party movement with an on air rant about bailouts. New unemployment numbers were released Friday and, oh yeah, the number ticked down to 8.1% and that news led most of media reporting on the subject. What a giant charade. Well, friends, the markets took a look at the real facts, those stubborn things that rat out the Obama media machine. The market went south. Mr Santelli had a few choice comments that stood in opposition to the MSM. Watch: Mr Santelli laid out the sad facts. The jobs report was terrible and the net bottom line is LESS Americans had a job in April than in March. (click on image to enlarge) Three … Read entire article »

CliffsNotes Marxists, CliffsNotes Atheists and CliffsNotes Christians

While it’s fun to poke fun at phony intellectuals, we should keep in mind the pursuit of honest scholarship, and admire it. 50% of everything I’ve ever learned was from scholars, then 50% of that I had to unlearn once I could tell the difference between the honest and the phony. The test of the true academician is that he seeks knowledge honestly, for the faux intellectual  always has the four Aces of control, power, station and privilege, up his sleeve. It’s honesty, not conservatism, that is the first true test of intellectualism, and among American Marxists and atheists you can probably count honest ones on one hand. With that in mind, I want to take a more serious look at the phenomenon of the CliffsNotes intellectual, beyond the Bill Maher show … Read entire article »

Not Cool: Growth Plunges in First Quarter

The celebrity president, Barack Hussein Obama and all of America got bad news today. Economic growth plunged in the first quarter to 2.2, down from 3 percent in the fourth quarter and well below the forecasts 2.5. The celebrity prez, the man with the shades, the looks and the dance moves just can’t help but roll snake eyes on the economy. It is not his singing that brings him bad luck. It’s the insane spending. It’s his mountain of new regulations. It’s the Obama war on American exceptionalism. American Crossroads has laid it out so even a “don’t give a damn” (TY Bushmills) college kid can understand: That’s a tough, true ad. Patriots should pass it around. Ben, if you are looking in, Keynesian prayers … Read entire article »

Growing New Red Voters, a Free Plan for GOP Candidates

(Note to readers: Our usual practice here is to tweet out posts to all our followers. I only have twelve so that won’t do. Please email this link to the congressional candidate of your choice, no matter how safe red or dismal blue the district may be. This plan is inexpensive, doesn’t take much time, and what’s more, on a small scale, is proven to work.) In 2008 I tried a small experiment with some small business owners I knew. I encouraged them to call together their employees, which ranged from 5-12 per company, then warn them what an Obama presidency might mean to them (e.g., layoffs), and then see to it…make it a condition of employment…that they get registered, even driving them there if necessary…then ensure they vote. In 2010 I … Read entire article »

Obama’s Doomsday Voter Suppression Weapon

The teat fit is never a pretty thing, but we rarely consider it life threatening. It can be. Let me tell you a true tale from the Sepoy Mutiny in India, when the country was ruled by the East India Company (that’s right, capitalists). I only want to make a single, simple point here, but first need to set it up. In 1857  this country of 500 million was managed by an army of clerks and businessmen who lived in white-only enclaves and palatial mansions much like Tara in Gone With the Wind. The Angrezi (English) memsahibs dressed like the female royalty of the Old South, in crinolated dresses, gliding up and down spiral staircases, and tittering over the finest Darjeeling tea and biscuits, while the men lounged at the club, and ran … Read entire article »
