Draining the swamp directly into the White House

Much has been made of Trump’s promise to “drain the swamp” in Washington, a clever way of saying that he will get rid of the business-as-usual establishment politicians responsible for turning government into the disaster it has become. Unfortunately, when…

Bob Corker ignores committee and cops out on Tillerson nomination

Apparently Bob Corker likes the title of Senator, he’s just not that keen about the job of Senator. It was just last year that Corker co-sponsored the bill that neutered–an appropriate word anytime the name “Corker” enters the conversation–the Senate’s…

Trump: Greatest imaginary jobs president God ever created

One of the most frustrating things about Obama during his eight years in office was how he manipulated economic numbers to make it look like his policies were working. From unemployment to jobs created, Obama turned the manipulation of data…

Martin Luther King wouldn’t approve of Donald Trump or John Lewis

Donald Trump, fake news and the US Constitution

In my commentary yesterday covering Donald Trump’s first press conference since last summer, I briefly mentioned his headline-grabbing bullying of a CNN reporter. You may recall that Trump accused CNN of being a “fake news” organization after lumping together a…
