The reason GOP attempted to kill Office of Congressional Ethics

With the holidays behind them and a GOP-controlled federal government ahead, Congress returned to work yesterday to tackle the nation’s top priorities. First on their list, essentially eliminating the independent Office of Congressional Ethics. Sarcasm aside, I use the word…

GOP proposes forming DHS Pre-Crime unit to seize guns . . . Really!

On Friday I shared with you how the Republican leadership and the House of Representatives were preparing to cave to the no-fly/no-buy Democrats by allowing a vote on several anti-gun proposals designed to deny the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding…

Get ready for the Conservative Revolution!

John Boehner is retiring because of the pressure he was getting from the Conservatives in Congress. The presumed successor, Kevin McCarthy, decided not to pursue the job due to the same pressure. But the Republican 2012 vice presidential candidate, Paul…

Paul Ryan not willing to be Speaker unless Conservatives cave on principles

Last week, I wrote a piece on the prospects of Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) becoming the new John Boehner as Speaker of the House. In short, I said that Conservatives should absolutely reject Ryan for just that reason; he would be the new Boehner! Well, the reluctant leader—he claims that he’s not interested in the position—is now expressing his interest in getting the gig. But his pretend willingness comes with two caveats: 1. He must receive the full support of Conservative groups like the House Freedom Caucus. 2. The rule known as the Jefferson rule, which allows anyone to call for the Speaker to vacate the chair much like Mark Meadows (R-NC) did against John Boehner this past summer, must be abandoned in the name “unity.” Besides being the epitome of arrogance, Ryan has specific motivations for making these selfish requests. By demanding unanimous support, Ryan can play the establishment card when Conservatives reject his Royal RINO-ness. This would allow him to join Mitch McConnell, the departing John Boehner and the Democrats in blaming those dangerous far right-wing extremists for an inept Congress while isolating the HFC: Let’s be clear. This is a move will ISOLATE freedom caucus. I bet […]

End the madness! Say NO to Paul Ryan as House Speaker!

The “Who will replace John Boehner as Speaker of the House” saga continues in Washington, even though Congress is on another recess after having just returned from another recess. Good work if you can get it. Just as they did when they tried to coronate  Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) as the next RINO to wield the gavel of power, many of the establishment Republicans are spending their time away from Washington trying to convince us that Paul Ryan (R-WI) is the savior America and the Republican party needs. You remember Paul Ryan, don’t you? He’s the loser who served as the running mate to Mitt Romney in the loss to Obama in 2012, and has recently received the endorsement from the “severe conservative” from Massachusetts. But Mitt isn’t the only 2012 presidential candidate in favor of a Speaker Ryan. Turns out the guy who mopped the floor with Romney, none other than the messiah himself, Barack Hussein Obama is in Ryan’s camp. There are plenty of reasons to oppose Ryan besides those I’ve already mentioned, including: On illegal immigration, Ryan’s a big believer in open borders and amnesty–a position that earned him an endorsement from Luis Gutierrez (D-IL), perhaps the most […]

Replacing Speaker Boehner: Easy as A – B – McC

As we consider a replacement for John Boehner as Speaker of the House, it’s really important to remember the A-B-McCs — Anybody But McCarthy! And while the odds are against us, the change we seek can begin with the House Freedom Caucus. If not now, when? After all, if they can’t block John Boehner 2.0 (Kevin McCarthy) from ascending to the top job, they should just throw in the towel and quit. As Daniel Horowitz tells us on Conservative Review, the problems with the Republican Party run far deeper than John Boehner, and they won’t be solved with this leadership election. The GOP base is demanding a change in course, and simply promoting another rung of repudiated leaders–the deputy arsonists of Boehner’s five-year inferno–up one notch on the totem pole will not satisfy those demands. An outcome that allows McCarthy and Scalise, baggage and all, to climb the ladder of leadership is unacceptable. Since there are only a few dozen conservative members, and they lack the votes to elect one of their own, it’s important that Conservatives understand that this was never about electing one of their own. Instead, it’s about using their leverage to overrule the next-in-line and force […]

Interesting Video – Hannity Grills House Speaker Candidate Kevin McCarthy

Sean Hannity does a good job here of grilling House Speaker candidate Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) on how he’d be different than John Boehner, and McCarthy actually holds his own fairly well. He’s definitely right about Mitch McConnell and the Senate’s primar…

Vote NO on John Boehner for House Speaker

Gutless On Principles (GOP) Hall of Shame member John Boehner (R-INO OH) has had a very busy job since the election. So far, he conspired with Obama to fund Barry’s executive amnesty, lied about defunding Obamacare, and led the charge in passing a bill granting the NSA unlimited authority to spy on Americans without a warrant. As we look at his job “performance” since November, Conservatives are rightly asking the question: where do we go from here? One great place to start would be to do all we can to make sure he isn’t the Speaker of the House for the next two years. Although the media and their inside-the-beltway buddies want you to think he has already been elected Speaker for the 114th Congress, that is simply not true. So far, he has only been nominated for the job. The actual vote doesn’t take place until January. So, is it possible to kick his sorry butt to the “former-speaker” curb along with Nancy Pelosi? Absolutely! All we need to keep Boehner from re-election is 30 Conservatives to vote NO! Can it make a difference? Is it possible to do? According to an article by Erick Erickson on RedState.com, it’s not […]

Obama provides incentives to hire illegals over Americans – GOP does nothing!

When added to the disastrous Affordable Care Act (a.k.a. Obamacare), Obama’s unconstitutional Executive Order granting amnesty to millions of illegal immigrants just made things a lot worse for Americans looking for a job—and even those who have a job—thanks to a loophole in the Obamacare law that creates an incentive for employers to hire illegals over legal citizens. According to an article in The New American, the incentive for employers to hire illegal immigrants over legal residents, including native-born citizens, is due to the regulation found in Obamacare law that deals with the requirement by employers to offer “affordable, adequate” healthcare coverage or be fined $3000 a year for each full-time worker getting a premium tax credit. The premium tax credit is offered directly to individuals not offered coverage through an employer and who have applied to purchase insurance through the federal Health Insurance Marketplace. Under Obamacare rules, coverage is considered “unaffordable” if the employee needs to contribute more than 9.5% of their family income to employer coverage. Coverage is deemed “inadequate” if the insurance doesn’t pay for at least 60% of healthcare costs. When Obama’s amnesty for illegals is combined with this rule, the loophole is created. Since these illegal immigrants who have been granted the right […]

Harry Reid’s latest temper tantrum

Lately, Harry Reid has thrown one temper tantrum after another. This morning, he threw another childish, mean-spirited hissy fit: “Republicans have had a very bad week. On the same day that Democrats in Congress delivered quality, affordable health insurance to tens of millions more Americans, Republicans in Congress delivered the nation a government shutdown.” “It’s […] . . . → Read More: Harry Reid’s latest temper tantrum . . . → Read More: Harry Reid’s latest temper tantrum

Where’s Harry?

When the going got tough, Harry Reid took the day off: “I’m glad now to invite to the microphone our distinguished majority leader in the Senate,” said Rep. Bill Johnson of Ohio, gesturing to an empty microphone as House members guffawed. “I’m sorry, Harry’s not here today. Maybe he’ll show up later.” The conventional wisdom […] . . . → Read More: Where’s Harry? . . . → Read More: Where’s Harry?
