Chris Murphy vs. Peggy Noonan

Chris Murphy is a Democratic senator from Connecticut and, as near as I can tell, a staunch advocate for censorship and a hater of religion. He can afford to be. He’s from Connecticut, which isn’t known for its deep religious roots. Peggy Noonan is a former speechwriter for the greatest president of my lifetime, Ronald […]

America should say no to Syrian refugees!

When President Obama and John Kerry suggest taking 10,000 Syrian refugees in 2016, 90 percent of them Muslim and many of them jihadist sympathizers– really, it’s not that hard to say not today; not ever. Just say no. In fact, say HELL NO! Why is there even a debate on the matter? Yes, the flood of refugees fleeing Syria is a humanitarian tragedy of historic proportions. However, these are not refugees from a terrible hurricane, a volcano eruption, or a tsunami tidal wave. These 4,000,000 are refugees from a civil war made intractable and horrific by an Islamist insurrection called the Islamic State, or ISIS. The refugees are a product of the same war that victimized 3,000 Americans on that beautiful September morning in 2001. Unlike the Vietnam boat people or Cuban refugees after Castro came to power, the U.S. has no moral responsibility for the chaos in Syria. In fact, just the opposite is the case. Is it really such a novel idea that refugees from a Middle East civil war should be resettled in the Middle East, not Europe and America? And there is another fundamental question our politicians are not asking. Let’s ask if it meets a […]

European colonization, not refugee resettlement

Why are the more than one million Muslim refugees so anxious to get to northern Europe and not, say, Saudi Arabia or Egypt? Why are we obligated to help them get to Amsterdam, Oslo and London? And why in the world is the United States government planning to take 66,000 Syrian refugees? Yes, Europe is faced with a massive refugee crisis when a million homeless people surge northward in search of food, shelter and safety. But why are they choosing Germany, Belgium, Sweden and Britain and not neighboring Muslim countries? And why does the United States have any obligation whatsoever to absorb any more refugees and asylum seekers than the over 100,000 we already accept each year from Central America, Asia and Africa? This human wave surging across Europe is a byproduct of the interminable civil war in Syria, ISIS massacres of whole cities in Iraq – and the terrorist mayhem across North Africa unleashed by Obama’s incredibly stupid “Arab Spring.” We can understand why people are fleeing the chaos. But why must Muslim refugees be accommodated with shelter, food, and jobs in Europe instead of in Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Turkey? Turkey is a symptom of the larger problem. […]

ESPN changing to ESPCN

On Tuesday, ESPN suspended former Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling for tweeting a meme comparing radical Muslims to Nazis. Here’s a snapshot of the offending tweet:   Unfortunately, Schilling caved to his politically correct employer and deleted the tweet. ESPN released a statement after suspending Schilling: Curt’s tweet was completely unacceptable, and in no way represents our company’s perspective. We made that point very strongly to Curt and have removed him from his current Little League assignment pending further consideration.” In a Breitbart story on the situation, Ben Shapiro shows us why ESPN was wrong and Schilling was right: Factually speaking, there were approximately 6.5 million formal members of the Nazi Party in 1940, out of a total German population of well over 80 million — a little over 8 percent. That number of members did not fully represent the level of support for the Nazi regime in Germany in 1940, of course. The same is true in the radicalized Muslim community. A very small percentage of Muslims globally are formal members of terror groups; it is difficult to estimate precise numbers due to secrecy, although their total membership runs into the hundreds of thousands (the Iranian Revolutionary Guard […]

Muslim immigration should be halted in wake of Chattanooga terrorism attack

We ought to halt all legal immigration and refugee resettlement from Muslim-majority countries and declare an indefinite moratorium — until two changes occur. First, we must devise a better way to identify and deny admission not only to terrorists but also to persons who sympathize with radical Islamism. It will surprise the average American to learn we are not capable of doing that today. The need for those new rules is highlighted by a recent poll showing over 40% of Muslims in the US would like to see Sharia law imposed, and an alarming number admit a sympathy for ISIS and radical jihadists. Second, we must change naturalization laws to create a 7-year probationary period during which any new citizen of any religion or national origin can be stripped of citizenship and deported easily if the person demonstrates any support for radical Islamists. Why do this? Because we are at war with radical Islam. It is time we started acting like we understand that reality. I am not suggesting we end all Muslim immigration forever, but a moratorium is overdue so we can develop new, more sensible and effective policies and screening procedures. A few facts will help illuminate our […]
